AUSTIN – While thousands of Texans and out-of-state visitors traveled to Texas lakes, rivers and coastal bays to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday weekend, Texas Game Wardens were out in force to ensure everyone stayed safe on the water.
Texas Game Wardens Urge Water, Boating Safety During July 4 Holiday WeekendAUSTIN—Across the state, folks are making plans for barbeques and relaxing days on lakes, rivers and the Texas coast to celebrate the Fourth of July. Before taking a dip, Texas Game Wardens urge everyone spending time in the water to remember to follow basic safety precautions while on the water.
CANYON LAKE — With summer temperatures soaring throughout the state, many Texans are seeking the cooling temperatures and fun of lakes, rivers and bays. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Comal County Sheriff’s Office and Water-Oriented Recreation District of Comal County (WORD) invite media to attend two upcoming events for coverage of boating safety for Canyon Lake and Operation Dry Water.
SPRING BRANCH— Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) announces 515 more acres of pristine land and water in Central Texas will be protected and stewarded for future generations of Texans.
PERRYTON – On Thursday June 15 Texas Game Wardens responded to a strong thunderstorm that developed into an EF3 tornado striking the town of Perryton. In addition to causing widespread property damage, the storm claimed three lives and injured hundreds of others. Through the aftermath, Wardens remained on scene assisting local and state first responders with search and rescue efforts as well as traffic enforcement and community support.
AMARILLO – Due to historic flooding along the Canadian River last week, the Potter County Sheriff’s Office requested that Texas Game Wardens assist with swift-water search and rescue needs.
AUSTIN — This past Memorial Day weekend, Texas Game Wardens patrolled Texas lakes and rivers to ensure visitors were recreating responsibly. They cited a decrease in accidents this year but noted an increase in citations issued, warnings and arrests.
AUSTIN — On May 25, Game Warden Daron Blackerby was recognized by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission as the National Wild Turkey Federation’s Texas Wildlife Officer of the Year.
LEWISVILLE — Texas Game Wardens and the Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) Rangers will offer water safety education and outreach opportunities on Lake Lewisville this Memorial Day Weekend as part of National Safe Boating Week.
